Ladies,
I know how things
look from the outside. I’m rich. I’m a successful surgeon. I’m handsome. I
should have women lining up from here to New Jersey clawing for space in my
bed, but there’s one huge catch.
I’m f*cking
awkward.
Every time I get a
date, I spoil it. Asked if she’s pregnant? Check. Forgot her name? Check.
Bought a meat lover’s pizza for my vegan girlfriend? Check, check, check.
This is why my best
friend, romance fanatic Allie Jenkins, has declared that she’s swooping in to
save the day. She’s prepared a list of required reading straight from The
Ripped Bodice, and I’m supposed to take notes, learn from the best, and put
that shit into action. After all, practice makes perfect, right?
Wrong.

REVIEW

Aww this book was super cute! I laughed quite a few times, it was funnier than I think I was expecting. This is my first book by Lily Kate, and I’m excited to read more from her!

Jack is so adorable! I loved him with all my heart, in his failed attempts at the dating world and how much he was willing to go through to get the girl for him. He’s successful in his carer, in life, he’s got an amazing best friend, and he’s cute and funny as all hell with how awkward he can be. I’m going to be really honest and say Jack was the saving grace of this book for me.

I’m probably in the minority, but Allie struck a weird nerve in me that made me not fall in love with her. I got frustrated that all the people were telling her they could see the chemistry between her and Jack and a couple people actually confirming he is in love with her (even he stated he loved her), and she was still like, “IDK, were such great friends and I don’t think he feels that way for me.” I understood she didn’t want to ruin their lifelong friendship or be the cause of his career decisions, but she wasn’t giving him any say in the matter and it frustrated me. But other than that small thing, Allie was a fun and adorable character to read. She was strong and funny and knew what she wanted in life.

I’m excited to read more form Lily Kate in the future, it was a lot of fun to read an upbeat funny book!
